#1 - You can access add and remove in the 'Actions' menu currently. We are looking at ways to improve the checkin dialog and will keep these comments in mind. Were you thinking toolbar type buttons, or just regular ol buttons?
#2 - Great idea, we'll make it sorts the other way (and make sure it's saving it's layout settings) for the next release.
