The best way to upgrade is to install again using whatever method you used the first time, so that all the files go in the same place. I'm not familiar with what location darwin ports uses, but you can try to find them with "which svn", and that should help you hunt them down. If you find the right spot, and it's easy to pick them out, you can try deleting them and using a different svn distribution. The svn command line distribution that I recommend is the one Martin Ott maintains at Coding Monkeys.
