The next step would be to add user defined conditions as filters to your sparse tree.
So instead of only showing modified files, how about showing only added files or only ignored files, and even better would be allowing multiple criteria for the selection. (you can contact me directly if you'd like to hear my thoughts on a UI for this..)
btw: your tableview does some odd resizing behavior, nothing bad just odd, if the bottom of the window intersects a row, the * for that row moves with the window edge but the rest of column lags behind. I'm sure it's just cosmetic but it caught my eye as something odd.
