How to get a previous version of a file - 2007/07/25 07:55
(I am using version 1.3 beta3)
I don't see a way in ZigVersion to get (bring down to my local machine) a file from a specific revision. I looked in the new "Revision Viewer" dialog (which seems a natural place for this feature) and I don't see a way to do it there. Nor do I see an "action" for this when I select the file in the tree view, and then go to the "Actions" menu.
Am I missing something here or is this feature not yet implemented in ZigVersion? Being able to get a past version of the file is a common thing to do in a version control system. I know I can do this via the SVN command line client, but I'm using ZigVersion to avoid the need to drop down to the command line.
Ideally I would like to bring down a file from a specific revision to a place on my hard drive of my choosing. In other words, I don't want the file to overwrite the current version in my checked-out copy.
BTW - It would have been helpful if the Revision Viewer allowed me to cut and paste text from the control used to display the different versions of a file, but that control doesn't allow you to select text and copy it. Being able to cut and paste from that dialog would be a nice workaround, however ideally I would like the behavior I describe above.
