Checkout/Export behavior - 2008/04/30 20:36
The Drag-to-Export-or-Checkout behavior has been inconsistent for me. I quite often have versioned software components.
MySoftware-1.0
MySoftware-1.2
etc.
In order to start a new version, I have been exporting from ZigVersion, but this is tedious since I must:
1) drag folder to some unrelated place on my computer
2) rename accordingly
3) move the new version to the correct location
4) add back to the repository
5) remove the local copy
6) checkout new version back to my computer
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but this could be simplified if ZigVersion were to offer me a chance to specify a name for the folder I'm exporting or checking out.
Bugs? ---- Furthermore, I experienced an issue whereby ZigVersion never asked me if I wanted to Export a folder after already doing an export on that folder.
How to reproduce:
1) drag a folder to the same location as its working copy
2) the Export or Checkout dialog appears
3) choose "Export". It will overwrite the existing working copy (is this a bug?)
4) delete the folder just exported
5) repeat Step #1 -- it will not ask you if you want to Export or Checkout this time... it will just do an export....(is this a bug?)
Lots of fun. I hope somebody finds time to work on the app, as it has great potential.
